State of The Me, Plus a Movie
Oct. 11th, 2011 09:45 amUgh, I am not doing well today. Some kind of unpleasant infection has my guts all unhappy. Also, I'm pretty pissed that I grabbed Honest Hearts off the Bethesda DLC half off sale, and now NV keeps freezing at the loading screen after the Honest Hearts opening. I
am going to fiddle with some memory settings later to see if that can fix it. I could switch over and see how Mothership Zeta is doing, but I forgot to get the patch yesterday and don't want to drag everything to the other end of the house to hook it up to the internet again.
Still watching movies! Case 39 was really good. And I was pleasantly surprised to see Callum Keith Rennie with a major role! Also, Jodelle Ferland is the horror girl. If you need a creepy little girl of some sort in a horror thing, she's who gets called. I started joking about it way back when she showed up on Kingdom Hospital fresh off of a string of guest appearances in supernatural/horror shows. Then after that she popped up in Silent Hill, Dark Lake, and Masters of Horror. Now, I'm more surprised if a little girl in horror isn't Jodelle! Hell, she's even headed into videogames with Bioshock 2.
Case 39 really showed off her acting chops, though. It delivered everything the trailers promised, and there were no cop outs or cheap bait and switches. It was an eerie, slow building, paranormal creeper. The violence was negligible, with the only 'bloody' scene shown from above and at a distance, with blood beneath a body rather than showing anything directly. It was all beautifully directed and filmed, and sits pretty damn high on my own list of favored horror movies.
I may watch Session 9 today, as I've already seen it twice (I think?) and it's nothing I need to pay deep attention to. This is if I can't fix my DLC so it works right. :/
I need to figure something out for Oktoberfest. It's a pity Toto doesn't lend himself well to horror. :(
