I've always had odd taste in movies. I consider Richard O'brien's 'Shock Treatment' to be one of the greatest films ever made, and I hate 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. So I suppose it's no surprise, with everyone I know putting it down and coming away disappointed, that I really enjoyed the Davinci Code.

I didn't think I would. I went into it expecting to not like it, to find tons of plot holes, bad acting, and a weak and uninteresting plot. Much to my surprise, I found myself sucked into the plot immediately, and I liked the characters quite a bit. Hell, I liked the damn backwards car chase! No, it wasn't an action movie. It was, if anything, an intrigue movie. Some things were easy to see coming, and some things had me blinking and reeling and trying to keep up.

Anyway, I really did enjoy the movie, but can easily see why not many people do. It's a lot of introspection and exposition. It's running from point A to point B to get clues, then on to point C for the clue the first clue told you how to find.

My biggest complaint is the cinematography. It was choppy, loose and half-assed. There were so many opportunities for beautiful, powerful shots that were wasted. And the lighting/filtering of the flashback scenes didn't mesh well at all. But that's a small complaint, really. The plot was one that I highly enjoyed, and I thought the cast was amazing. And hey, any movie that has a cripple that can beat the crap out of an assassinwith his cane wins points in my book. ;)

Overall, I liked the movie and will happily watch it again.
