And Action! (Figures, that is)

Today started off rather lousy. I was in pain and just pretty bleghy. I was planning on spending the day in bed, but lennaofmidearth was going out to do some shopping, and I hemmed and hawed for a bit but decided to suck it up and go with her. Damn am I glad I did.

I bought a new Harry Potter T-shirt. It's dark maroon with a gold Hogwarts crest on it and the inscription 'Wizard In Training'. It matches my Jedi In Training shirt. I also grabbed the little mini-figure set with Remus and Harry. Ugly as it is, it was there and I had to get it. I feel sort of like a traitor. I have far more LotR merchandise than I do Harry Potter. I blame that on Ames.

When I was a waitress, way back when the first LotR movie came out, I worked right near an Ames. (I don't think Ames even exists anymore.) One Saturday, I had made a bundle in tips. I exchanged all of my singles and five dollar bills for larger bills, and wandered on over to Ames. There, lo and behold, was pretty much every LotR action figure that had been released. For five dollars. I went a little bit nuts, and bought all of them except the Merry and Pippin set and Gimli. (I have since gotten both of those, along with pretty much every single other LotR action figure there is.)

I've always had an obsession with action figures. It started with Star Trek action figures. I had (and still do, tucked away in a bag somewhere) a good number of the TNG action figures. The first one I bought was Deanna Troi, I remember this clearly. I eventually edned up with all thre versions of her, plus Riker With a Beard and Riker Without a Beard. And I had both Worfs. (Klingon Warrior Worf and Starfleet Command Worf). From there we branched out to Star Wars, Hercules, Bablyon 5 and Miscellanious.

I've only recently started collecting HP action figures. A friend of mine gave me the original Snape action figure, which I ended up giving to my rat as a toy. It wasn't until the second movie figures were released that I bothered to get any of them. Now my collection is steadily growing.

Someday I'll probably even have room for all of my action figures. (I've got my favorites hanging on the wall and the rest are stacked in cabinets and under the bed.)

I know I'll end up with the third movie action figures. Even ugly! I-Ate-My-Own-Head Remus.

I finally got Sirius away from the Necrans. Let us all rejoice. Even those of us who have no idea what I'm talking about. (Go here if you'd like to.)
