In Praise of Leela, Just Because
Feb. 7th, 2012 10:20 amNo, I haven't abandoned LJ, I've just been dealing with a lot of RL stuff. Work, health, interpersonal relationships, all that fun stuff.
But through it all, one person has been there for me in ways no other person ever has. She is one of the strongest and kindest-hearted people I have ever met, and I am extremely lucky to be able to call her my closest friend. We depend on each other, but there's never any weirdness or awkwardness about that, despite both of us having our pride. There is no time I can't call her or show up on her doorstep, and vice versa. And above all, she is entirely honest. I am an idealistic and sometimes naive person, and while I've gotten used to being taken advantage of and strung along, it's a wonderful thing to have someone who doesn't do that.
And then there are all the million little things, like ass weasels and babydoll and running all over Granite Mountain pretending to be Gunslingers. She is the person who knows what to say and when to say it.
Despite whatever else may be going on in my life right now, I am extremely lucky and blessed.

For anyone who has never seen a pic of me, Leela is the dark-haired one on the bottom!
Now I need to figure out transport for a hundred truffles.
