And it was of a sort that could not truly be anticipated. The drive itself was mostly uneventful, spent in watching the un-seasonally green landscape go by and listening to appropriate music. It went quickly, despite the Memorial Day traffic we were expecting. Since Thursday I had been of two minds, offering the idea that logically all traffic would be going in the opposite direction. But being myself, even I don't put much stock in my ability to speculate on distance, time, or anything involving numbers and space. Just the same, my hypothesis rang true. We arrived at a local parking area before nine o'clock.

And there I had my first ogling incident. I think this one wins, as I hadn't even set foot on con grounds. I lost track of how many times the parking attendant circled round and leered.

We got our hotel room ASAP, our friends would be arriving in half an hour, all was well. There were some minor upsets at first, but nothing that would cast any shadows upon the con. We ended up becoming a sort of impromptu con-suite - many a con-going friend left their things in our room, for safe keeping, and in one case a crash pad for our security buddy - and I have to say I have never been as social as at this year's PCC!

To be honest, not very much happened on Friday. Badges were acquired, we got lost in the vendor's hall (it was large enough to store airplanes!) and explored the hotel. I swam for a bit, but the pool was quite small and not very deep. Mostly we hung out in the room with Sister Sexy, Security, and Someone Else. Until it was time for me to head to the Dead Man's Curse concert!

Missy Mayhem and El Jeffe were actually getting married this weekend, so The Killer fronted vocals. He was drunk, but that didn't stop him from rocking. And Psycho Mike was there, which was really all that mattered. The man practically makes love to his classic standing bass on stage. And they played selections that showcased the bass, and they played about eight songs and I was in the front row and it was amazing. They even played You Give Me The Creeps, which they almost never do live. The interim drummer kept making eyes at me, and doing that 'c'mere' grin. (I was the only female in the front, and he was drunk as Killer.)

I had planned on staying up for the RHPS midnight showing, but it kept getting pushed back and I was exhausted. I didn't even wake up when Security stumbled into our room at 3:00 AM needing a floor to crash on. Which was a bit surprising when I woke up and almost stepped on the Security-sized lump at the end of the bed!

But that was pretty much Friday. Oh! Except for a surprise most amazing and awesome! As we are in the vendor's hall, suddenly we hear someone yell and a man clad in Punisher attire leaps out at us and slides by with a gun. As he skids to stop I realize it's Texas! I met Texas about two years ago at...I don't even remember what con! The same con I met Sister Sexy, actually. Separately.

Texas is the gentleman among gentleman. He is the classiest, best natured, most respectful man I have ever met. And he is my Con White Knight. He looks after me and makes sure I am never, ever alone. I didn't think he'd be at PCC this year, as last I heard he couldn't afford to go. HB and I were thrilled that he made it, and we promptly made plans to Party Con Hardy Saturday night. Captain Morgan and all!

But Saturday is for another post....
