Led Zepplin Is Poetry In Motion....
Aug. 5th, 2008 10:52 amI thought it was about time I had a Venture Bros icon. :D
Thanks to
dragontrap, I've been watching first season episodes! And man, has the animation come a long way. But catching up on the older episodes, including episodes I'd missed, I'm reminded of every reason why I love this show.
Ghosts of the Sargasso pretty much sums up...everything I love about this series, actually. If you're going to watch one Venture Bros episode, that's the one. I mean, come on! The opening sequence is just an epic tribute to David Bowie! And it hits all the classic cartoon tropes. I watch this show and I can't help but think 'this is just like all that crap we talked about in high school'. It takes me back to after school sessions crashing in the computer lab or the clubroom, arguing and picking apart classic cartoons.
And every time I watch it, all I can think is 'if the two guys who created it hadn't, these guys I knew in High School would have instead'.
Oh, and on another note...because the majority of Twilight fans on my Flist are Not Happy Right Now, I just want to extend my sympathies. I've been there, my friends, I've been there. And it sucks.
Though this, to me, proves what
chocomimi and I were touching on last week. Stephenie Meyers is the Mercedes Lackey of supernatural romance. People have compared her to Anne Rice, Laurel K Hamilton, but no....the most apt comparison I can think of, based purely on her work, is Lackey herself. (And before anyone jumps on me, please keep in mind, I own nearly every book Mercedes Lackey has written and keep buying new ones. I like her books.)
But yes. While I won't touch your fandom with a ten foot pole, and do not enjoy the books myself, I do want to offer my condolences to those who were let down by The End. It's never fun, regardless of the series or medium.
Alright, I've got RP and Ponies and a fuckton of clothes to put away! No more lazing about for The Fey!
