Prostitution Is Revolution

I've been thinking about porn a lot this morning.

Or, well, smutty fan fic. And the stirring across various fandoms that smut is on the decline, ever since the whole LJ strikethrough debacle. Now, maybe it is in some fandoms, but I haven't seen too much evidence of it in my fandoms.

Death Note is still saturated daily with Light/L pr0n. Plenty of FMA pr0n pops up on my Flist. Ouran pr0n as well. And I'd say there's still just as much pr0n in HBC fandom, but as I'm the only one writing it, it's not exactly a good gauge. But I have noticed a change in the pr0n.

Anyway, all this just led me to wondering what's going on with the whole thing. The people who instituted the policy (whatever said policy is) are gone. I haven't heard anything about anyone being banned or booted or even warned over fic in which the participants are shy of 18. Hell, I used all my other journals to flag one of my old fics - Envy/Winry, non-con, Winry is 14 and yes, this is mentioned a few times in the fic and in the warnings - and nothing happened.

So I wonder: is that dark cloud passed? Do we still need to fear for our teenage smut? Is everyone who's carefully avoiding writing anything with anyone under 18 being paranoid, or safe?

I never changed my fic writing through the whole thing - I'll argue the artistic merit of my pr0n until the cows come home - but I know plenty of people who did. And I understand their reasons. But I can't help but wonder if it was just one spike in the waves of fandom.

The main reason I'm wondering is because I like to read smut that involves a handful of teenage characters. I miss the fact that there used to be at least one Kyouya/Tamaki fic on my Flist on any given day. Now...not so much. Or they're aged up, which doesn't appeal to me. And there has been a dramatic decline in Ed/Al ficcage. Now I don't know if this is because FMA has passed its peak or not, but since it started when this whole thing went down, I'm going to guess they're linked.

(I'd like to note here I'm talking specifically about LJ, not archives or other journaling services.)

Anyway, I miss my pr0n. And I hate that I have to end up being OOC with one of my characters because according to former LJ overlords, 18 is some magical number all over the world and all fan fic is child porn.

SO! Discuss. Are we being paranoid? Are we being smart? Has Strikethrough really effected fandom? Or just LJ fandom? How much of LJ fandom is fandom?

These are all the questions that ran through my mind this morning, as I lay in bed trying to recover from another one of those dreams. Om nom nom.

And Now, Some Random Crap!

1) Okay, so! qc_heartless were talking horror games last night. And a question/scenario/thing came up that was insanely familiar to me, and I turn it over to you, vast and knowledgable Flist!

We're thinking this was a Silent Hill game. It involved this specific scene: in a basement type area, there is a cabinet thing with a chain. If you open the cabinet without a certain item (we're thinking ring) this thing comes out and grabs your character and drags them under. IS THIS FAMILIAR TO ANYONE OR ARE WE HAVING A SHARED HALLUCINATION?!?!?

SUCCESS! This is what we were thinking of:

Examine the suspicious fridge for Harry
to notice a missing link in the chain, and there's a dagger
which seems to be holding the fridge shut. Grab the DAGGER OF MELCHIOR,
but don't be greedy and careless. That dagger was there for a reason, and
I'm sure you don't want to find out the hard way what that reason is.
After taking the dagger, use the RING OF CONTRACT, which Harry notices is
a hefty ring, to complete the missing link in the chain.

After attaching the ring, turn around and head for the door. A banging
sound is heard from behind Harry -- something is in the fridge! Good thing
you attached that ring... If you didn't use the ring and tried to leave
the room like a greedy bastard, you will be punished for your wrongdoing.
Since nothing will be keeping the fridge shut without the ring, instead of
just hanging, the monster in the fridge will bang the door open, grabbing
Harry by his leg and dragging him into the fridge for a snack. That's what greed gets you. Anyway, leave the room after everything is all good.

2) chaneystarr, I need a name for Thaddius's journal. I can't think of one. HALP?

(no subject)

Oh god. I hope this is the right account. I can barely use the computer. It's like the keyes are swimming. And I can't even describe what my fingers feel like typing. I can't. It's amazing. The clickety clack over and over and over like the dancing of cat claws.

I am doing this for Cryssy and Nija! And I am glad I am, because I can fell myself typing.

Totoro is with me. He's always with me. It's like he's become some sort of totem animal. My spirit guide. I don't know. Maybe because he was a so very thoughtful and sweet gift from a good friend or what, but he is special to me. And he sings to me. He dances and he sings and it's always the same song, the song that describes this very moment. I know what it's like to hear a song and know exactly what it means, to the finest minutiae. My soul is in the music.

I have to lie down now, I am afraid. Gravity demands it of me!
