My Year In Fic! Gacked from All Over
Dec. 29th, 2005 10:27 amTotal stories written this year (1 January to present): Uh...somewhere between 60 and 70, I think.
Favourites of the batch: Either Pre-Coital Calamities or Still Point of Destruction. They both came out extremely well, and both were able to put across exactly what I wanted.
Best of the batch: Still Point of Destruction. It is, hands down, the best fic I have ever written for any fandom. I put across everything I wanted to, I utilized language the best I ever have, I got the most detailed and insightful feedback for it, and a lot of people told me it was hot - which made me happy, because there was no actual sex in it. And I am a bit sad that one of my best pieces of work features a pairing that a lot of people don't like, but isn't that the way?
Most underappreciated by the universe: Hmmmm. I can't think of one, really.
Most fun to write: Pre-Coital Calamities. It was funny, it was dealing with characters I loved, and it just came easily. I smiled when I wrote it. I love writing humour, and there is nothing better than humour in sex.
Sexiest fic: What Ron Saw. I'm sure people will disagree with me there, but I think that was particularly sexy. So was Potter Ruined Everything. And Old Magic on a Moonless Night was more erotic than sexy, I think.
"Holy crap, that's wrong even for you" fic: I don't think there was one this year. I never did write that Hohenheim/Ed fic I've been threatening to for so long now... ;)
Fic that shifted my own perceptions of the characters: Political Favor. It shifted my view of Percy quite a bit.
Hardest fic to do: The Christmas We Get We Deserve. It was my fic for the
lupin_snape Snupin Santa exchange, and for some reason it was like pulling teeth. It was so hard to get across what I wanted, and I did more rewriting for it than any other fic. But it went over well, so the effort was well worth it!
Biggest disappointment: There were a lot of them. Probably that Snape/Lily fic I did for
erotic_elves. I don't like the pairing, I just wanted to see if I could do it. And I did, but I wasn't happy with it.
Biggest surprise: The Only One Who Could Understand. My very first FMA fic ever. I was nervous and terrified of posting it, and I was overwhelmed with the positive feedback that I got for it. It's borderline Elricest, purely emotional, and not something I ever expected to get much feedback at all. But it started me on my road down into FMA fandom, and I'm quite happy there now.
Most telling fic: I have no idea. I don't put a lot of myself into my fics, really. If we're talking about style, we find ourselves back at either Still Point of Destruction or The Christmas We Get We Deserve. I think my own personal style comes across best in those two pieces. And my characterization came across very, very well, which always makes me happy.
And the weather thing says it's 42 degrees out, but I was comfortable on my deck in a tank top and sleep pants. Ah, the desert in December! Also, totally had weird sex dreams about a guy friend of mine. Totally weird.
