Stephen King and Karaoke
Apr. 8th, 2005 10:21 amI caught the end of Rose Red last night. I wish I'd seen all three parts, not just the second and third. I'm quite a fan of Stephen King's cinematic endeavors - points to layout - and I'd heard that Rose Red was pretty good. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, in all honesty. I've noticed that Stephen King has a fondness for evil places rather than people. Physical location and structure play a large part in a good number of his stories. IT, Pet Cemetery, Insomnia, Needful Things, countless number of short stories, you could argue that location plays a large part in The Stand, Kingdom Hospital, Rose Red.... The places in these works arent just haunted, they're generally inclined to the supernatural themselves. And I much prefer that to his fondness for haunted machines. Machines+magic=good. Machines+ghosts=bad.
It is a bright and sunny day today, which in itself puts me in a good mood. It's warm and relatively dry, and proves to be a good day for going out. Not that we're going out until this evening, but still. The morning has been spent in bed, contemplating the twinkies and cherry pepsi that are taunting me from my bedside table. It is also quite nice to wake up to a clean room, and well worth the effort spent making it so.
I am so excited about karaoke it is very sad. Especially when one takes into consideration that I couldn't find a tune if it bit me in the ass. For that reason I refuse to sing alone. Even on my birthday, I won't subject anyone to me singing alone. I've already got a list of songs for myself and
zinjadu and whoever else wants to join us in our journey through classic rock. And I'm very much looking forward to what other people do, because I've heard some stories. There will be a full update on it tomorrow!
Thank you so much to everyone who's wished me a happy birthday so far. *snugs to you all*
