WoT Ravings
Nov. 5th, 2004 10:13 amI finished A New Spring last night. I stayed up reading it until about 1 in the morning because I couldn't put it down. And it certainly left an impression on me, because my dreams were full of Aes Sedai and the Black Ajah. It's re-wetted my desire to read the whole series again. Well, that and
zinjadu.
I've never been one for WoT slash. I've stumbled across it, and just sort of went 'meh'. It isn't a series, in my opinion, that lends itself to slash. Probably because the relationships that exist in the book are so well done and so fitting that it doesn't leave room for anything else. (Though I will say I think Mat/Birgitte would work well.) No, I don't like Faile. No, I don't like her with Perrin. But can I honestly see Perrin with anyone else? No. I can only think of one WoT slash fic I ever found that was even remotely plausible, and still it didn't grab me.
But I have to say that New Spring left me pondering the possibility of Siuan/Moiraine. Not after they've been raised, of course, but before. When they were Novices and Accepted. There's a deep love between them, obviously, and all those little things that scream out to the slasher in me. Sleeping in one anothers beds, holding hands, quarreling like lovers....
Anyway, it's the only WoT pairing I can see as working.
I'll have to grab Eye of the World out of the library next time I go.
