Summary: Triana's selection of calming herbs and incenses were at Valyn's disposal - and a far stronger blend than he'd ever encountered before....

The opulent guest suite was quickly clouding with sweet, scented smoke. Valyn relaxed, coat off, spread out on a tangle of pillows on the floor. An elaborate glass water pipe rested beside him, the long slim stem resting across his shoulder.

Triana had allowed him access to her stock of relaxing herbs and incenses, and he was taking the offer up. Ancestors knew he needed as much help as he could to relax. Tensions were high, worse even than when they’d been in the woods. At least here he had his privacy.

The flavored smoke was doing its job, working its way through Valyn’s blood and senses. It was a powerful blend, more powerful than the stuff Valyn was used to at fetes and galas. But he supposed that was what one could expect from Triana.

But this wasn’t a fete. It was the privacy of his own suite, where he could smoke and unwind and perhaps find some manner of peace. He’d been avoiding Shana, but the looks she gave him still weighed heavily on him. And of course Shadow’s infatuation with Triana was something to worry over. But Shadow was hardly an innocent - Valyn knew that full well - and could take care of himself.

Still, he was a bit lonely. He was used to Shadow being around, and while he could ignore the lack of company when he went riding or for a walk, it was difficult at times like these.

Which was why Valyn was both curious and surprised when the door to his suite opened. (And perhaps a touch fearful, as he had no desire to encounter Shana while he was under the influence of Triana’s opiates.)

“Keman?”

The dragon - currently in the form of a young Elven Lord - was one of the last people Valyn expected to come by his room. But there he was, poking his head curiously into the suite.

“Oh, ah, I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you were… what are you doing?”

“Relaxing,” Valyn said. “Our gracious host offered me the use of her smoking herbs. Was there something you needed?”

“I was just looking for Shana.”

“And you thought she was here?” Valyn’s eyebrows arched and he pushed himself up somewhat on the pillows. “I haven’t seen her.”

“Neither have I.” Keman was hovering in the doorway, a forlorn expression on his face.

“She’s about somewhere.” It was a bit awkward. Valyn and Keman had never really spent much time together, other than with their respective kin. Both of which were very much absent these days. “You’re welcome to join me, if you’d like.”

“Join you doing what, exactly?” But Keman did close the door behind him and fully enter the room.

“Here, sit down.” Valyn moved over, the room swimming slightly as he did. “Do your people have any mind altering substances?”

“Not really.” Keman sat carefully, arranging himself on the pillows.

“Oh. Well. It’s something like alcohol, I suppose is the best way to describe it. But the effects are slightly different. Honestly, it’s very hard to try and explain the effects. Here.” Valyn lifted the stem and offered it to Keman. “Just put it between your lips and breathe in.”

Keman nodded and did so, then immediately jerked back, coughing. Valyn slapped him on the back, wincing as the dragon continued to cough.

“I think you breathed in a bit too deeply,” he said, laughing some. “Here.” He stretched and reached over to the crystal bowl beside the pillows and pulled out a bottle of chilled fruit cider. “Drink some of this.”

“Thanks. It feels hot.” Keman took a swig of the cider and flopped back onto the pillows.

“Ah, that’s the smoke. Here, loosen your collar and take off your jacket, you’ll feel better.” Valyn reached over to pop open the top buttons of Keman’s shirt as the dragon shrugged out of his jacket.

“I don’t think I need to use that,” Keman said, indicating the pipe. “I’m breathing in enough just being in here.”

“It’s very strong,” Valyn agreed. But ancestors, it was nice. He leaned back, enjoying the sensation of weightless floating. Dangerous in a group setting, but perfectly acceptable in present company. It hardly mattered if he said something that would be deemed unacceptable in elven company. And Keman certainly wasn’t some saucy maiden looking to trap him in a marriage.

“I feel strange. My head feels strange.”

“Just lay back. You’ll adjust to it - it can hit you hard the first time.” Valyn knew his first experience had been something almost frightening. The first time he felt himself lose his inhibitions….

“It’s not bad,” Keman mused. “I had too much to drink once, when I was looking for Shana. And that was bad - I felt sick and I couldn’t think right. This isn’t like that, but it sort of is.”

“I much prefer this to alcohol,” Valyn agreed. “I don’t care for being drunk. Or being sick afterwards.”

They lay in silence for a while, smoke curling around them both. It was a companionable silence at least, and Valyn closed his eyes and waved his hand, summoning up a bit of music. He honestly did feel more relaxed than he had in some time, a pleasant change. The worries that had been plaguing him were blissfully absent, and all in all he felt quite content.

Those things never lasted.

“Uh…Valyn?”

“Mmm?” Truth be told, the elven lord had been hovering around sleep.

“I feel…funny.”

“It’s just the…” But Valyn paused, his mind pulling itself from the brink of dreams. Oh. Oh. He still felt warm, as he had since he’d settled in to partake of the recreational incense, but now it held a different note. A distinct tingling note. A certain heating to the blood….

“Ancestors!” Valyn ran a hand through his hair. “There must be an aphrodisiac in there. Ah… just ignore it.”

“I don’t think I like two legger bodies right now.”

“It isn’t so bad when… in certain circumstances,” Valyn explained. “The sensations will pass.” Eventually.

“It’s a little bit more than just a sensation!”

“Ah. Yes.” Valyn flushed some. What an uncomfortable position to be in! “Justdon’t think about it. There’s not much else to be done about it, really.” He offered a small smile and a light chuckle. “You aren’t exactly my type.”

“I could be, you know.” The oddly thoughtful tone threw Valyn off guard, and he had difficulty thinking of a proper response. Or figuring out what exactly Keman meant.

“Pardon?” he settled on. Keman only grinned and then blurred, and Valyn had to look away. When he looked back, a rather attractive elven woman was laying on the pillows beside him.

“Keman?”

“Two legger females react a lot differently than two legger males.” Keman’s voice was delicate and feminine now. “This isn’t much better….”

“No, it’s worse!” Valyn blinked, but he was unable to look away. Keman had created the image of a very desirable young woman - pale and slender with large green eyes and more pectoral endowment than any elven lady Valyn had ever seen. It wasn’t helping his condition.

“I feel more tingly than I did,” Keman informed him. Keman, who was currently inspecting his current body. “And these feel….”

“That’s enough.” Valyn reached over to pull Keman’s hands away from his - her? Valyn still wasn’t sure how that worked - breasts. And ended up getting more than a good feel of them himself. Which…oh, ancestors. Not even his father’s concubines had breasts that felt like that.

“Um. Could you…keep your hands like that? It helps.”

“Keman!” Valyn flushed, but his body made no effort to take his hands away. “It’s not helping me!”

How had he managed to get himself into this position? He’d worried over finding himself in a compromising position with Shana, not Keman! And yet here he was.

“I’m sorry! But this body really likes you right now.”

“Yes, yes, and my body likes that body, but that’s hardly the point!” And the smoke that was still clouding the room wasn’t clearing any. Which meant unless Valyn pulled himself away and opened a window, neither one of them were going to be clear headed.

“Do elves usually need to take something to help them mate?”

“What? No, it just… adds to the experience, that’s all.” Valyn shook his head and dropped his hands. “Sensations are more intense, feelings are more pronounced… I assure you we can ‘mate’ perfectly fine on our own.”

“Oh. I’ve never done it, you know.”

“That… Keman, why don’t we open a window…?” His senses were confused and aroused, and it wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience. On one hand, he had a nubile young elven lady informing him she was a virgin and she wanted his hands on her body. On the other, that nubile young elven lady was Keman.

“I don’t think I can walk.”

“Honestly? I don’t think I can either.” Valyn sighed. “Keman, please, please button your shirt back up.”

“But I’m hot. It’s just skin.”

“Not for me.” Valyn averted his eyes as best he could. But the sight of smooth, naked breasts had finished the job the aphrodisiac had started.

“Oh that’s right. You two leggers and your naked taboo. I don’t see what the big deal is, it’s just more flesh. Are swollen mammary glands really that….”

“Don’t call them that, please.” Valyn brushed back his hair. “They’re breasts, and yes, they’re quite appealing. And yours are a spectacular example, so could you kindly cover them up?”

Keman grinned. “You like my breasts.”

“Can we please stop talking about your breasts?”

“Why? My breasts like you, you know.” Keman shifted, leaning over to display said assets with a wicked grin.

“Now you’re just doing this to torment me.” Valyn finally reached over and pulled Keman’s shirt closed himself. “There.”

Keman laughed and fell forward, laying across Valyn, pinning him against the pillows. Not entirely an improvement, really. Ancestors, he had such soft hair! She? Valyn’s mind wasn’t up to picking apart pronouns at the moment.

“Mmm. I guess I can understand why Shana likes you the way she does.”

“Keman?”

“Mmm?”

“You’re currently female, partially topless, aroused, and draped across me. Now isn’t a good time to bring up your sister.”

“I just meant that you are handsome. This body wouldn‘t be so interested in you if you weren‘t physically appealing as a mate.”

“The term we use is ‘lover’.”

“Oh. Then you’re very appealing as a lover. For a two-legger female, I mean. To a two-legger female.”

“I know what you meant. And you make a very attractive female.”

“You’re petting my hair.”

“You have soft hair.” Valyn stilled his hand, resting it on Keman’s back. Ancestors, this may as well have been a harem for the way he felt. A warm feminine body pressed against his, bare breasts pressed against his own chest, soft lips…

“Keman? Are you kissing my neck?”

“Sorry.”

“Alright, enough.” Valyn gently dislodged Keman, ignoring his (her?) wide, moist eyes and parted lips. Trying to ignore. Trying and failing. He found himself kissing his current companion before he realized what he was doing. The effects of the drugs made everything seem dreamlike. Valyn’s hands tangled in silky pale hair, his knee slid between soft, delicate thighs….

And he pulled away, gasping for breath and feeling as though his body were on fire. He pushed himself to his feet and stumbled to the window, wrenching it open and sucking in gulping breaths of fresh air. The cool air helped, soothing his flushed skin. Everything was reeling.

“I don’t think I’ll be partaking of any of Triana’s herbs again,” Valyn said, leaning against the window. He was feeling better now that fresh air was entering the room and clearing out the heavy smoke.

He simply wasn’t going to think about what had just happened. It was far, far easier on his mind if he forgot entirely the events that had transpired.

“I’m going to go for a walk,” he announced. “And, ah, Keman?”

“Yes?”

“We’re never going to speak of this again. To each other or to anyone else.”

“That’s probably a good idea. Shana would….”

“We’re still in a place where mentioning your sister is forbidden.”

“Right. Ah. Maybe I should go for a walk, too…”

“Most likely a good idea. Just…make sure you shift back to normal first?”

“Oh. Right. I'll see you later, Valyn.”

Valyn decided to simply stay by the window, not looking at Keman - regardless of whether he was male or female at he moment - until the dragon had left.

That's it. It's official. You have killed me dead. I may never recover. *is rolling with laughter*

Keman grinned. “You like my breasts.”

“Can we please stop talking about your breasts?”

“Why? My breasts like you, you know.” Keman shifted, leaning over to display said assets with a wicked grin.

= best conversation ever.

I KILLED MYSELF DEAD!

Dude, so much fun with the dialogue in this. Seriously. But was also super nervous, writing Keman.

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
But you write him so well. ;_;

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
I learned from the best! :D

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
IT'S TRUE!

[identity profile] chaneystarr.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hahahaha, the dialogue cracked me up. They are the most random of the failtastic four, but my god, that was wonderful, hahaha XD

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Such a random and implausible pairing, but so damn fun. I'm glad I was able to write humor for this fandom!

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
IT'S ONE OF THE FEW NON-INCESTUOUS PAIRINGS!

[identity profile] ranchangrnl.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
-dead- I love that Keman keeps throwing himself (herself?) at Valyn. That was great.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
It's the fic that keeps killing people! ;) It was a really fun fic to write. Also nervewracking, because I've never written Keman before, and my Valyn-muse gets pissy if I try and pair him with anyone other than Mero.

...........................

THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I love you. ♥

Oh man. This totally made my day.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
YAY! I AM GLAD YOU LIKE!

This was a nerve-wracking fic. But seriously fun to write. Especially the dialogue. :D

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
The dialouge is brilliant. :D

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
It was the funnest part, seriously. Especially once Keman got breasts. :D

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
XD Yes.

IT WAS AN INTELLECTUAL EXPERIMENT.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
TOTALLY! ONE AIDED BY MIND ALTERING DRUGS!

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
WHICH IS HOW ALL THE BEST INTELLECTUAL EXPERIMENTS GET STARTED, DUH.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
BUT OF COURSE! CLEARLY, KEMAN NEEDS TO TAKE MORE DRUGS!

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
.......

Drugs. Wow. That was totally unintentional.

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-08-01 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
