Advent Fic #19
Title: Moe
Fandom: Ouran Host Club
Pairing: Mori/Haruhi
Rating: PG
Written For:
destinydivine
Prompt: Mistletoe
Summary: Haruhi had spent the entire evening avoiding host club attendees armed with mistletoe...
Tamaki had gone all out when it came to the Host Club Christmas celebration. No expense had been spared, much to Kyouya’s dismay. Garlands and tinsel hung on every wall, glitter and glitz dripped from every inch of the music room. And of course, there was mistletoe.
Haruhi had spent most of the party avoiding it. On all ends. Her first group of girls had giggled and blushed and dangled the sprig of plant almost teasingly. Haruhi had made a quick excuse to be elsewhere. Tamaki had been next. Of course, he’d rigged up a sprig of mistletoe to hang over his head at all times. Haruhi hadn’t been amused.
She couldn’t understand what the big deal was. But as long as she could avoid anyone who seemed intent on kissing her, she was alright. But it was getting harder and harder to avoid.
She’d taken refuge in a doorway, hiding out with a mug of cocoa. It wasn’t that she didn’t enjoy the holiday - it was nice enough - but she was tired and her outfit was itchy and everyone seemed whipped into a frenzy. There was just something about this time of year that got to people. It was all about romance. Weren’t there enough holidays all about romance? Why make Christmas about it, too?
Oh well. It would all be over soon enough. Haruhi leaned against the doorframe and sipped her cocoa, left alone for the moment. She only looked up when a shadow fell across her.
Mori-sempai cast a very large shadow. He nodded briefly to her, standing beside her and watching the room. Probably looking for Hunny. The smaller senior had a habit of disappearing in crowds.
Then Haruhi heard the gasps. All around the doorway the guests had gone silent and were now staring, hands at their lips. There was an expectant air all around. Haruhi just blinked, thoroughly confused. What was going on? Why was everyone staring at her… like that?
Mori caught her eye. All he did was point up, his expression unchanging. With a sense of growing dread, Haruhi glanced up. Hanging in the doorway, above their heads, was a sprig of mistletoe. Oh. No. No wonder everyone was staring like that. Haruhi felt like a deer surrounded by dozens of lionesses.
She didn’t even notice Mori bend down, folding his long body towards her. His shadow stretched and Haruhi froze as she watched every eye widen, every set of clenched hands tighten. And then Mori was right next to her, his expression blank. His lips pressed against her cheek just briefly and there was a collective sigh from the room. Broken only by a tortured wail that had to come from Tamaki-sempai. Haruhi hardly heard any of it. She could still feel Mori’s lips against her skin, warm and chapped and wholly unfamiliar.
“Eh…” She looked up, wide eyed. Had that really happened?
Mori just cracked a small half smile and ruffled her hair before striding away, hands in his pockets.

Lovely piece. Mori is perfect here, as is Haruhi.

The two of them are so amazingly in character (as is Tamaki's wail when the kiss happened). It's so sweet and cute and *squeals* ♥
Thank-you so much for writing this for me!
