So, I've been experimenting with icon making. I can make animated scene icons! Still trying to do the Scar and Lust one, but it's a hell of a lot harder since it's from about a dozen different caps, and also I will not post it for a while because it is massively spoilery.

And I know a good many of you are now going: 'Dude, Fey, I thought you didn't like the chick that's in that icon'. And no, I am not a very big fan of her, but she's nice to look at and I do think that is a pretty - if kind of random and perhaps not entirely appropriate - scene.

I have longer versions, but they were over 40 k. You can see them below the cut:

I really do like the second one, but it's 57k and there's no way to keep the quality and cut it down small enough. Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] crackalicious for the gif that allowed me to make this icon.

I don't know. I thought it was, but it's never really brought up or mentioned or anything. Ed stares at her when he first meets her, but I don't know if that was 'hey, you look familiar' or 'pretty girl with cleavage, dur'.

[identity profile] chaneystarr.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ohh, she IS pretty! Who is she?

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
She's from the FMA movie. Sadly, to say anything more would be potentially spoilery. But yeah, she's very pretty. She got on my nerves a bit though, which is rare for an FMA female.

[identity profile] 47thlight.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Ooo, prettyful, yes indeed! I wasn't real huge on Noa's character, either, but I didn't hate her. Just felt like she was too whiney, and her loyalty was always changing. I never really got a solid opinion on her.

SxL... icon. *drool*

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's pretty much the way I felt about her. I know she was supposed to be a sympathetic character, but some of the things she did made it pretty damn hard for me to feel any sympathy for her. I spent a lot of time going 'honey, please tell me you aren't really that stupid....'. But I said that to a lot of characters in the movie....

[identity profile] 47thlight.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
The scene near the end (depicted in your icons, actually) irked me A LOT. I was gripping the couch and hissing at the screen I was so... ick. She's just one of those "You're tolerable, but I can get along just fine without you" characters, to me. Besides, we've already had a wonderful little discussion about what we didn't like in the movie, anyway. lol

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I know the scene that my icon is from is supposed to be symbolic and cultural and all of that, but it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. Not that I really cared about the whole reason for the scene if you get my drift, I just... I don't know. It seemed so pointless. Hehe, indeed we have. :D

[identity profile] greedyslayer.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wow, she's real pretty, and although I haven't seen the movie yet, I'm already theorizing who she is, based solely on who she looks like....

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, that's what I thought when I first saw her. But it's never really addressed, unless you want to take a long stare and a blush from a particular male character as comfirmation. But I chalked that up to the fact that she's a pretty woman with cleavage.

Ooooo... the second one is fabulous. And very hypnotic. o_O

Awesome work!

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I really do like it, and I wish the icon size was larger. I love how she kind of dances in and out of the icon. Thank you!

[identity profile] momoiro-usagi.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
he he, I actually kind of like Noa, as far as whiny girly love interest type characters go. ;) She sure beats Winry, in my opinion....but maybe that's just me.

Nice job!! These are really beautiful! Now you need to do the lesbian grope! The famous lesbian grope! ;)

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
She was supposed to be a love interest? *Totally missed that* I dunno, I like Winry. Winry can be annoying as hell sometimes, but she has redeeming qualities, strong loyalties and a pretty good head on her shoulders. Noa... I understand what I was supposed to think of her insofar as writer's intent was, but it just didn't come across to me.

Thank you! I will so do the lesbian grope as soon as I can screencap the lesbian grope scene.

Nifty! Where did you learn to make animated icons? Was there a tutorial somewhere, or did you just teach yourself?

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I taught myself in Imageready. I took each screepcap in a short sequence, cropped them down to 100x100 pixels, layered them on top of each other and sequenced them in the right order in the animation window by clicking the 'new frame' button and then making the next layer in the sequence visible. For this icon, I did 10 frames, I believe. I timed each frame to .02 seconds.

pretty girl ! and pretty icon ! I'm sad to know she's such an annoying character ^^

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
She is quite pretty. Lately I've been noticing myself go 'oooh gypsy, hurr...'. I know plenty of people who like her, just too many of her actions grated on me. And I'm going to give her time to grow on me - I usually don't warm up to characters until after I'm long done with the source material and I really start thinking about them. And I am afraid I've never done much thinking on Noa.

[identity profile] lucy-lupin.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
I love how the second one is kind of half girl/half sand. That makes it quite dramatic.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I really wish I could somehow cut that one down to 40k, because it is my favorite. :/ Thank you!

[identity profile] climbatize.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I like that second one, too. ^^ She is pretty... but her character just seemed sort of... flat, to me.

*reads comments* And did I already tell you that someone screencapped the entire lesbian grobe scene? Like, all of it, there are about 50 caps, in order. *digs around in computer* Unless you want to cap it yourself, but...

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*Curses LJ and its icon size limit*

Yeah, I haven't been able to find it, sadly. :/ I've been hunting all over for it, because that would save me having to do it myself.

[identity profile] 13thleprechaun.livejournal.com 2006-03-15 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi, Fey! :D My friend [livejournal.com profile] 47thlight's told me about you, so I decided to take a peek at your journal. XD I like your layout of Dante. Took me a while to get used to her. I also really liked your Lust layout, too. That was awesome.

And your icons rock. Noa was... hmm... Well, the movie itself was good for anime standards but for Fullmetal Alchemist standards, noooo~... not that good. That's only me. ^^; But yes, Noa's dancing was pretty, even if it was quite random. X3 Again, I like your icons. Even if Noa isn't my favorite.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hello! *waves* Nice to actually meet you! :D Thank you. I love Dante. Took me a while to warm up to her, but I have decided that she is one awesome lady.

Thanks! Noah...blah. I just haven't warmed up to her yet. I'm going to give myself time and try and look at her apart from the movie, since I was very biased towards the movie itself. I didn't like it. It didn't fit in with FMA at all, there was too much completely random and unexplained stuff and it just... yeah. Pretty animation, but not much else. So, so random the dancing scene. But she's nice to look at. Not as nice as some of the other FMA ladies, though....

[identity profile] 13thleprechaun.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I agree, it was quite random. XD But then again, it did strike a spark in me to get working on something post!anime. Not sure I'll ever work on it, but it's a nice idea. Noa is actually quite pretty but her personality was just... blah. They could've made her a lot better. And yes, there are some other girls that are a lot more interesting. X3 I'm quite a Winry fan myself and I'm becoming an even bigger Lust fan. Because Lust is so bad ass, for lack of a better term. XD

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
I think that's pretty much the sum of it, actually. Noah could have been a good character, but she wasn't. So much of that movie could have been really awesome, but it just fell flat. I love Winry. And Lust. And Sloth. And Izumi. And Riza. And Dante. So many awesome women....

[identity profile] 13thleprechaun.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
XD As far as female characters go, FMA has the most kick ass females. :3

Fey, I'm feeling a bit shy asking, but may I friend you?

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2006-03-16 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
It really, really does. Out of the series itself, I can't think of a main female character who isn't kick ass.

Don't be shy! Of course you can! :D
