Night Pains, Hughes and Stephen King
So last night I was again kept up by horrific nocturnal leg cramps. I was up at about 2 in the morning, hobbling around my room, trying to ease them some. This would be why I woke up and thought that it had to be around 9 and it was in fact 10:30. I'm failing with the sleeping thing lately.
I got my Hughes Ficathon assignment. Not the one I was hoping for, but still some really awesome stuff to work with. And I can only use pre-episode 25 stuff, that was stressed. But it led me to an interesting conclusion last night about another small detail in the FMA movie that I don't even know if I'm remembering right. But if I am, the movie has earned one more tiny point from me.
I've been reading Stephen King's 'On Writing', and I've really been enjoying it. I really do love how that man writes, I always have. Whether he's writing fiction or non-fiction, there's something about the way that he uses words that grabs me. He is one of the few authors that I would actually like to meet.
I've been getting a ton of compliments on my new default icon. I am very happy I went with this layout.

Hughes ficathon? Aw, you're lucky! Are you allowed to tell about your assignment, or is it top secret? ^_^ Either way, I'm sure you'll come up with something great! And having Hughes in the movie was a nice gesture that the anime people did for us - props for them!
Stephen King is a great author, I hear, but I'm so lazy - I haven't read any of his stuff. Dun impale me! O.O I'll probably read some of his work soon, since I'm eager to look into new styles of various writers all over. He'd be ideal to not necessarily model after, but more so to maybe help me mold the style I really want.
Dude, your default icon is 'teh awesomeness! Dante is creepy, but she is cool! ^_^
Hope you're having a wonderful start to the week! *huggles and gives Fey smiley face cookies*

Yup! I signed up a while ago. It is secret, however! I was actually hoping for one of the movie prompts - there was an awesome Roy/Hughes prompt that was my first choice, but I ended up with my second choice. And my requests were movie!verse, actually.
Stephen King is amazing. Especially his non-horror. The Body remains one of the best short stories I have ever read. Rage is pretty awesome, too. He just has this way with words without being flowery or confusing or putting in too much extra details. He has definitely, definitely influenced my original writing.
Thank you! Yeah, she's amazing. So, so twisted and evil!

It's strange how I like scary stuff, yet I never think a book could scare me. So I don't read scary books. I've heard a lot about Stephen King though, of course. I might have read one or two of his books, I'm not sure. Could you maybe recommend me one that is perhaps more scary than others? Or is that a dumb question?
..I'm really out of it today. Yet I must go find a place in town I've never been to before. Stupid UPS. *hugs and kisses* Hope you are doing well.

Hmmm. Well, the scariest thing I read by him was the short stoy '1408', about a hotel room that was the center of all evil in the world. It made me terrified of phones for a few weeks. For books, Tommyknockers scared the hell out of me, but that was because it was about aliens. That one has also scared other people that I know. Insomnia is pretty freaky, but also very gory. IT is supposed to be scary, but it didn't scare me much. It has scared other people I know, though. Needful Things was scary, too, but a lot of that was because it had to do with animals. The Shining is one of his better novels, I think, and had some really scary imagery. The movie also managed to scare me. The Stand is my favorite, but it's not so much scary as it is creepy. It's also crazy-long. And Nightmares and Dreamscapes has some amazing short stories in it, including my all time favorite 'Ballad of the Flexible Bullet'.
*cuddles* I'm sorry, hun. Ugh, that is no fun. I am doing pretty okay. I hope you are, too.

I like Stephen King; I know there's some stick-your-nose-in-the-air thing that some think of him, but I like it. Being popular doesn't mean it's bad. =) I just ordered Cell and I'm receiving it today. Yay!

Stephen King is awesome. Sure, most of his stuff is sensationalist and all of that, but he's a good writer. Gah, you'll have to tell me how that one is.
