Long story short:
I'm trying to quit smoking and every little thing around here that can go wrong is going wrong. Nothing is monumentally or life-alteringly awful, it's just a snowball of Murphy's Law combined with raging nicotine cravings I can't always deny. Which in turn makes me feel guilty and miserable and like a failure. Which triggers the craving for nicotine which I try and deny and that makes me feel angry and frustrated and ready to crawl out of my skin.
And I'm trying not to freak out about PCC being in two weeks and having so much still needed to do, or the fact that I haven't heard from
husband_brother since Friday or the fact that my parents keep legitimately fighting with each other.
Essentially, I am unfit even for discourse 'tween man nor beast.

Have you thought about trying herbal cigarettes? I have a friend who was able to quit doing that - satisfying the motions of going through smoking but smoking something healthier than a tobacco cigarette, and then weaning that down.

Yeah, I've not heard much good about the electronic thing. :/

Could I perhaps trouble you for your address? When my local Borders was going out of business, I ended up buying you something. XD The Black Jewels trilogy, if you've heard of it; since then I've also picked up spare copies of Sing the Four Quarters and The Quartered Sea by Tonya Huff. Let me know if you're interested!

!!!!! Thank you! *hugs* I've been meaning to read the Black Jewels trilogy! And oh man, I haven't read Sing the Four Quarters since I was a teenager! I loved that book. I shall PM you!

Also! I talked to my dad, and he said nicotine gum does help--just BE SURE to read and actually follow the directions... unlike him, who used the gum and kept smoking. ^^ The patch is also helpful, just don't use that AND gum, or that and keep smoking, or any other combination thereof.
I am also informed that the gum tastes HORRIBLE, but maybe that helps some people learn to find nicotine repulsive?

For me, due to health and genetic things, I can't do the gum or patches or basically anything that is still delivering any nicotine to my system. At least for 4 days, so my body can re-learn how to manage and regulate blood sugar on its own. At the moment, it will actually only release blood sugar when it receives a signal from nicotine ingestion. It takes 76 - 92 hours to reboot that system, but only without any nicotine at all. And taking certain things to trigger natural blood sugar releases. After the four days are up, I'm probably going to try mullein cigarettes to curb the habit of smoking itself.
I really wish I could just use gum or the patch....

YIKES, I didn't even KNOW nicotine could do THAT. Well, studies have shown video games are about the best distractions possible when your body's turned on you... if you're out of good ones, I can send you some awesome links. XD Been replaying Zelda 64 myself, and somehow resisting the urge to use every cheat code it came bundled with!
Hope you're at least fit for feline company; kitties are always nice to relax with.
