BPAL Spam!

My Loveraft scents came today! I came home to BPAL! Yay!

Arkham: A shadowy, unapproachable forest of maple, birch, dogwood, cypress and pine softened by a garland of New England wildflowers: bergamot, columbine, rue anemone, blue violet, creeping phlox, bloodroot, toadflax, and pixie moss.

Yeah, smelling that in the imp took me right back to New England. Seriously. It was nostalgia in liquid form. Sweet and light and nature-y, and it reminded me of poking around the woods and wandering all over town with [livejournal.com profile] mehitabelcat in spring.

Azathoth: Azathoth is the blind, idiot god who sits on a black throne at the center of Chaos. His scent is high-pitched and screeching, both impenetrably dark and searingly bright with the clarity of madness: tangerine, saffron, vetiver, black amber and cedarwood.

Sweet. Very, very sweet. Reminds me a bit of Akuma, actually, but richer. It's a dark sweet scent, and the tangerine and cedarwood seem most prominent. But there's definitely a bright note to it, too, and I can't place what it is.

Cthulhu: A creeping, wet, slithering scent, dripping with seaweed, oceanic plants and dark, unfathomable waters.

Oooooh, oceany and breezy and slithery and delicious! This is nothing like the Holy Evil Grapefruit debacle! This is creepy salt water spray and dark, cold undertows. Exactly as it's described.

The High Priest Not To Be Described: Monastic incense, blood musk, black leather, cypress, pimento, white pepper, and Roman chamomile.

I was looking forward to this one because, mmm, spicy! And it is spicy, but not overpowering or obvious. It's a very warm scent, soft with hints of spice underneath it. The leather and the incense are what I pick up first, and then the pimento and white pepper under it.

Miskatonic University: The scent of Irish coffee, dusty tomes and polished oakwood halls.

Well, we already know this is basically my favorite scent ever. The perfect British Adventurer-turned-scholar Gentleman scent. :D

Nyarlathotep: Brooding, yet electric: the scent of buried secrets, roiling nightmares, the essence of the Crawling Chaos, the Father of Knives and Locusts, the Hunter in the Dark. This is the blackest of ritual incenses charged with flashes of ozone.

I can't even begin to describe this one. Soft and cold and sharp. There's something intriguing and icy about this one. It has to be the ozone in it.

And a Frimp of Hellcat!

Hellcat: A soft, sensual, luxuriant blend with a wicked bite: hazelnut, buttercream, honey mead, rum and sweet almond.

Guh. Just guh. Rich, warm, sweet and foody. It's baking and drinking and relaxing and having a damn good time. I can't smell the rum at all, but the buttercream and hazelnut are strong and absolutely delicious. I'm going to be trying this one on my skin today, I think. And if it smells as good on me as in the bottle, I'll be wearing this one a lot when I'm with [livejournal.com profile] mikazuki! ;)

I've been waiting for this collection for so long, and I'm so thrilled with it. Definitely worth the wait! Also, I got a lab postcard that didn't make me creeped out!

And now, to clean.

Isn't BPAL amazing? I definitely recommend the Picnic in Arkham line!
