Summary: Riza always woke up to an empty bed...
In the morning she was gone. The right side of the bed lay empty, only a warm indentation any sign that two women had spent the night between the sheets - together. Riza shifted, frowning slightly and resting her hand on the warm place beside her. She knew why the older woman was gone - it wouldn’t do to find a new recruit and a full fledged soldier in bed together. The added taboo of their genders only made the possibility of discovery worse.
Riza hugged one of the pillows to her, thinking on sleek lithe muscles and sarcastic words and a jagged red line of tattoos and the way the older woman’s laugh sounded like granite…. But there was an alarm going off somewhere, calling her out of bed and into training. But the warm spot in the bed lingered, even as Riza made her bed and smoothed down the sheets and thought of what went on between them after dark. A few brief moments of pleasure and forbidden romance, a pantomime of affection carried out in the dark hours and then ignored as though it had never happened.
Riza sighed, fluffing a pillow. The nights never seemed long enough.
