From Now On, I Shall Wish Everyone a Happy Wintereenmas

So yesterday I was out on errands, and we drove by the True Value store. And on their computerized Marquis where they list their sales and special items it read "Remember the Reason for the Season! Keep CHRIST in Christmas!'. With Christ in the big, bold letters.

Maybe I don't get it, but I don't see how shopping centers saying 'Happy Holidays' in any way invalidates what someone believes.

It really feels like too many people seem to be overlooking the very basic ideas of Christmas in favor of a need to feel oppressed. Which is just stupid.

I'm not a bitter person, but it's shit like this that would make me one if I was.

Speaking of a need to feel persecuted, ever been to http://www.christian-underground.com ?

I'm with you on this. The stupid regarding this issues is spreading. In the words of the prophet Jon Stewart: for some people, there is also a -- a celebration of the New Year. So Christmas and the New Year are actually two holidays, so there is a plural, which in the English language necessitates the use of the letter "S."

I've been known to wish people a Merry Mithrasmas. But Wintereenmas sounds fun.

Haha, I love John Stewart. Seriously, this whole thing is insane.

It is the holiday of gamers!

I agree, it is stupid. I mean, every year you have people fussing about commercialism and keeping Jesus in the whatever, but this year it's gone insane. People are boycotting businesses for saying happy holidays. It's just stupid. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way about it though.

It is insane. It's gotten to the point where it's hard to take these people seriously, and knowing that they are serious just makes it that much worse. Blargh.

fucking sign.

*whispers* Just one of the many, many reasons why I love working there. Except not at all.

Actually, I took a call last Thursday from a woman bitching about the sign, and I snickered a little as I transferred the call to an owner. The rest of the evening, a co-worker and I were doing gay man lisps whilst saying, "Thanksssss for keeping the chrisssssst in chrisssssmasssssss."

Gah, I don't blame you. This whole 'War on Christmas' has gotten completely out of hand this year. I was at the UPS store and a woman started to say 'Merry Christmas' then stopped and started on 'Happy Holidays' and finally just told everyone to have a good Festivus, and she hoped that was politically correct enough.

*snerks* That's great.
