Meme Time!

1. Post the names of 20 of your favorite musicians.
2. See who can guess which is your favorite song by each.
3. Once someone guesses right, bold that row and include the song.

1. Pink Floyd: Lucifer Sam
2. Sting
3. The Doors
4. Led Zepplin
5. The Who: Behind Blue Eyes
6. Nightwish: Bare Grace Misery
7. Blackmore's Night
8. Beck
9. Bob Dylan
10. Jerry Garcia
11. Newfound Glory
12. Billy Joel
13. Richard O'brien
14. Vigilantes of Love
15. Greenday
16. U2
17. The Rolling Stones
18. David Bowie
19. Iggy Pop: The Passenger
20. Tom Petty

Yes, I realize some of those are random and obscure. And I know some people have a huge advantage over others. But still! Have fun. :-)

That, my friend, is a BEAUTIFUL list.

Thank you. :D I am very fond of it. *huggles her music*

Oooo... I know I should know at the very least Sting and U2, but I can't remember for sure!

I'm gonna guess.... "Don't Stand So Close to Me" and "Beautiful Day," respectively.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm. I've never considered 'Don't Stand So Close to Me' to be a Sting song, since it was done by The Police. It is, however, my favorite Police song. *is pondering if that counts*

Wrong on the U2, though. But not a bad guess, I do love that song.

[identity profile] rivendellrose.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, true. I always think of it as Sting, but I generally think of all the Police songs as more or less falling under "Sting." *Shrugs*

Hmm, darn.

*Snickers at icon*

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I classify them seperately, mainly because Sting's solo stuff is so different than his stuff with The Police. They're two such totally different styles of music, from the lyrics to the composition and I will stop myself now before I bore you with paragraphs of musical babble. :-)

[identity profile] rivendellrose.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's true. "Don't Stand" always seems somewhat on the line to me, for some reason, though. I don't know as many of his songs (solo or with the Police) as you do, though, so that's probably why.

[identity profile] djseverus-snape.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well, this is very difficult - I'm going to try and minimise my losses and only guess a few...

Richard O'Brien - if the criterion is that he performs the song, I choose 'One Hundred Dollars an Hour' from Absolute O'Brien. If it can be anything written by him, I'll try 'Breaking Out' from Shock Treatment.

Pink Floyd - How about 'Lucifer Sam'?

David Bowie - 'Rebel Rebel', especially the time he wore the eyepatch.

Iggy Pop - 'The Passenger' is one of my favs. I'll take that.

Now I have to agonise over my own list.

Evelyn

I am floored and tickled pink that you guessed my favorite Pink Floyd song. It's such a random and little known song by them, and I was confident that no one would guess it first off! You'ce proved me wrong.

You're also right about Iggie Pop. :-)

*Goes to cross them off*

Ah, but she was not right about Bowie?

Hmm. Let me see. How about "Lady Stardust?"

And, for U2, cliche though it is, let's try "One."

Sting -- "Moon Over Bourbon Street?"

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Nope on all, sorry. But Moon Over Bourbon Street is an awesome Sting Song. I love the Dream of the blue Turtles album so very, very much.

[identity profile] riibu.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 07:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I like the first album of Pink Floyd very much, and Lucifer Sam is a great song.

..."Jennifer Gentle you're a witch..."

I once used that name for a OFC in HP fan fic, but paradoxically she was a Muggle. :)

Hmm...I'm intrigued by your choices of music, some of which I share!

I'm going to guess that your favorite Doors song is People are Strange and your favorite Who song is...Behind Blue Eyes

Both are probably wrong because they're my favorites but hey...it's hard to pick one Doors song!

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Correct on 'The Who'! Though it's a damn tough call, because I also love 'Pinball Wizard'. Wrong on the Doors, though. Though I agree it's hard to pick a favorite.

[identity profile] rikibeth.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, and let me take the rest in order.

The Doors -- Love Me Two Times
Led Zeppelin -- Hey Hey What Can I Say (B-side to The Immigrant Song), or, second guess, Fool in the Rain
The Who -- Love Reign O'er Me
6,7,8 -- not familiar enough with their catalog
Dylan -- Shelter from the Storm
Jerry Garcia -- does this have to be solo? if the Dead count, I say Scarlet Begonias
11 -- who?
Billy Joel -- Only the Good Die Young
Richard O'Brien -- Little Black Dress
14 -- who?
Green Day -- oh, too hard to pick.
Rolling Stones -- She's A Rainbow
Tom Petty -- Refugee

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh, good guess on Richard O'brien! Also very close on Led Zepplin and Dylan.

[identity profile] annakas.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 05:42 am (UTC)(link)
Nightwish - 10th Man Donw
U2 - Discoteque (sp?)

Completely randomly selected

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
I actually don't know 10th Man Down. Which album is it off of?

Nope.

[identity profile] annakas.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
album "Over the Hills and Far away" the first sng. Atleast my winamp info showed that. Its one of their older songs if I remember correctly.
Before the Wishmaster album I think. That is atleast four albums ago.

annakas

Hnnn another guess Wishmaster!?!

[identity profile] evilwildlex.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Green Day - Um...Hitchin' A Ride? Just a random guess there. ^_^

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Nope! My favorite Greenday song is a not very well known song by them.

[identity profile] evilwildlex.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Hmm...can I ask which album, then? ^^ I've got a fond spot for Dookie.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It's off of 'Warning'. Dookie was the first album of theirs I heard, though.

[identity profile] ekaterinn.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem

But that's only really because it's my favourite song by them. *grins*

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Beautiful, beautiful song by them. Right album, wrong song!

[identity profile] mchoneygoose.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
The Doors - people are strange?
Richard O'Brien -sweet transvestite from RHPS?
David Bowie - space oddity?

why yes, i have taken a stab in the dark and chosen my faves! and yes, i do notice the theme!

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
It seems that by general consensus, People Are Strange should be my favorite Doors song! ;-) Unfortunately, it's not.

And I shall offer the hint that the Richard O'brien song is off of his album.

No for Bowie. Though it is one of his well known songs.

[identity profile] riibu.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Starman for Bowie?

[identity profile] riibu.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nightwish - Bare Grace Misery? (If I am not mistaken, you mentioned this once)

The Doors - Love Me Two Times?

David Bowie - The Jean Genie?

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2005-03-30 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
You are not mistaken! :-) No on the other two, though.

[identity profile] slurp.livejournal.com 2005-03-31 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Green Day-She?
