Fifteen Minute Ficlet

Wow, so this is late. Apparently I've got a bit of a theme going. Another gen Sirius piece written for [livejournal.com profile] 15minuteficlets

Title: Remember
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: A little dark
Summary: Sirius remembers. Word behind the cut.

Word: Discombobulated

The first thing he remembered was light. Blinding and harsh and stabbing into his brain. Then there was feeling. Hard stone beneath his back, cold and solid and uncomfortable where his shirt had ridden up. The third thing he remembered was pain. The pain of hunger in his gut, the pain of the rock beneath his tender flesh, the pain of the light on his sensitive eyes. Light and pain and stone was his humanity.

He sat up. The movements came back to him slowly, like molasses trickling through a sieve. He looked about and words came to his mind. He tasted them on his tongue, things like ‘door’ and ‘arch’ and ‘floor’. They made sense in his mind after he said them.

The fifth thing he remembered was his name. Sirius Black. He tasted that as well, rolling it on his tongue. Sirius Black. Black was the colour of night and the damp earth. He shivered. The sixth thing he remembered was fear. Fear was a metallic taste in the back of his mouth. It was something foul on his tongue. His humanity was fear and pain and an empty name.

His clothes were tattered, and he wrapped the shreds of his robe about him. Where was he and why? He wet his chapped lips as he looked about the room. He was somewhere deep underground, under layers of stone and dirt. He was in a dark place, spirit dark. He stood, shakily, his legs unused to holding him up. Behind him stood a great stone arch, and whispers snaked out of it to caress his mind. He remembered those voices. Sweet and comforting and warm against his ears. Where had he heard them before?

He touched his chest, surprised. Something was wrong. Fingers mover over skin that was still cold, skin that was clammy. But skin that was whole. Sirius frowned. His palm moved over his chest, opened his robes and looked down. His chest was smooth and grey and sickly, skin stretched taut over his ribs.

The seventh thing he remembered was death.

sequel(s)?

*hopeful*

You mean he is dead, and still he's back? That's a lot better than the usual revived-unhurt-yadda-yadda scenario. Otherwise, I'm not a fan for bringing Black back, but this one's getting to me.

I don't like most of the ways Sirius is back. If he comes back, he's going to be fucked up and not himself.

I'm glad you enjoyed this! :-) Last week I wrote a Sirius-In-The-Viel ficlet, and I have a whole series that chronicles what happens to him after he falls.

Here's a link to Passing Through Eternity (http://www.livejournal.com/users/theladyfeylene/212036.html), the Sirius-In-The-Viel fic. The second part is linked to at the bottom of the first. :-D It's a WIP, but I hope to have part 4 up next month.
