(no subject)

I started an original piece this morning. I just woke up and the story was there. It's slow going, but it's coming. As I posted before, I am extremely nervous about writing anything original. I know I kept saying when the time was right, and I'd get to it eventually, and I'm worried that I'm being a bit premature. But what's the worst that can happen? I write a piece of shit and it never sees the light of day. No big deal. And I've gone poking about the net and seen the absolute drivel that some people post and claim as masterpieces.

I've never been solid on actual stories. I have dozens of characters, it's just giving them stories that's the hard part. I have pages and pages of backstory on characters. I just have trouble telling their stories as stories. And that probably makes no sense.

I am ridiculously behind on my Flist, and I apologize. Trying to catch up on comments and posts and things today. Yahoo's being a total bitch, and doing that lovely thing where it gives me a blank page instead of my mailbox. *rolls eyes*

I have the characters fully flushed out, my problem is staggering the information while putting it across to the reader, not overwhelming them, but giving them everything they need to know without info-dumping. It's something I really need to work on, but I figure with time, practice and guidance I should smooth the problem out.

I do enjoy world building quite a bit. I've actually done three seperate 'worlds' for my main characters. Heaven, Hell and Purgatory. Though trust me, they bear no resemblance to anything you'd find in any religious reference. (Except Hell, but that's just because people see what they expect. Pisses Satan off to no end.) And I love making characters. I love creating them up out of nothing, and detailing their personality, their likes, dislikes, building it up piece by piece like a puzzle. I swear, the world building and character creation is more fun than the actual writing! :-)

I can fully imagine myself and a few of my friends living in shack appartments wallpapered in post-it notes about whatever world and characters we're all working on or role playing with or something someday. I know what you mean, at least to some extent. I'd buy it, if it reads anything like some of your fic I've read. Good luck!
