Drabbles!

More Summer Themed Drabbles. Three Harry Potter, and one Halfblood Chronicles. I was asked to write some HC slash a while back, and never got around to it. So here we have it, for the six of you who give a damn about it. And for those of you who do read it, Kyle was an extremely minor character. He was Denelor's apprentice, and was described as looking remarkably like his Elven father.

And now, on to the drabbles!

Remus didn’t mind the summer months like most did. Even in late August, the dungeons were pleasant and cool. Especially the stone floor. Smooth, polished stone was really remarkably comfortable. Much more comfortable than any rug, at any rate. Remus enjoyed the cold slickness of the worn stone under his back and, the way it kept him from slipping when Severus was driving into him particularly roughly, and the way he couldn’t grasp it with his fingers no matter how hard he tried. The floor was much better than the bed for making love, at least in the summer months.

Severus always looked forward to the summers. Not because of the end of school, he actually enjoyed school quite a bit. Not because he was going home to his family, he actually hated his family quite a bit. A part of it was because he’d be free of Potter and his gang for two blessed months. Though that was certainly nice. But summer was when he was free to visit Diagon Alley. And a small flat above the Leaky Cauldron where a platinum haired adonis liked to lounge about in nothing but a black satin dressing gown. Waiting for him.

This is for [livejournal.com profile] lennaofmidearth

The Burrow was always so sticky in the summer. Everything sweat. The people, the wood, even the walls seemed to sweat. But it was okay, because Ron decided he didn’t mind sweat. Not when it was Harry, and Harry was slick from….well. You know. Harry looked good with his slim body gleaming in the late afternoon sunlight, when there was just a thin sheen on his skin. He liked the way Harry’s back slid under his hands, the way Harry’s shoulder tasted just a little bit salty, how Harry seemed to glide against him. Summer was best for….well. You know.

Summers in the Citadel were hell. Zed had been rather certain that he’d read something about caves being cool. Whoever had written that had been sadly misinformed. The heat sank into the stones, and made the caves an oven. But it was alright, at night. Kyle came by, and it was never too hot for that. And that was only ever done in the late evening anyway, when the shadows were long and Zed didn’t bother with a mage-light because all he wanted to see was white skin, pale hair and green eyes. All he wanted to see was Valyn.

Oh my lord that Severus/Remus one brings some especially vivid and welcome mental images!! Bravo!

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-01 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Wheee, thank you!

[identity profile] lennaofmidearth.livejournal.com 2004-07-01 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! That was quite enjoyable *g*

You really should write more Harry/Ron.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 08:58 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! I'm glad you liked it. :-)

Enjoyed the Snupin muchly. ^___^

I don't really particularly adore Lucius/Severus but read it anyway. The mental image of Lucius was VERY welcome, and I love the lines
"Not because of the end of school, he actually enjoyed school quite a bit. Not because he was going home to his family, he actually hated his family quite a bit."
XD XD XD Hurrah for parallel structure.

Strongly dislike the Ron/Harry pairing, but read it anyway as well. I liked the "... well. You know" theme. XD

*lol to the last* I love how the other three start out with "Yay for summer!" moods, and the last starts out with "Summers in the Citadel were hell". That was an awesome contrast. And the "white skin, pale hair and green eyes" is such a nice imagery. ^_^

Do you ever write for Harry/Draco (or D/H)? I'd love to read that sometime. XD

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-01 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you so much, I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I try to use little style tricks in my drabbles, since there's such a limiting amount of what you can put across.

I actually don't write D/H. I just have no interest in the pairing whatsoever. I prefer the boys with Ron. ;-)

[identity profile] strawberry-snow.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I like your style tricks. XD But you're right about how limited drabbles are. Still, you work wonderfully with your limit. ^_^

^^;; Aw, what a pity. I have no interest in Ron being with anybody. x_X He's like... a comical character for me, or a good sidekick, and he is nifty-- after book five, I actually like him more than Harry, whereas up until book 3 or 4 I could hardly stand him-- but I can't seem to like him with anybody. I understand the popular H/R fans, but it does absolutely nothing for me. x_x Despite being such a slash fan, I like the chemistry with R/Hr, surprisingly.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

For some reason, I just don't see any chemistry between Harry and Draco. I see it between Draco and Ron, though. The Harry/Draco relationship, in my eyes, is really pretty apathetic. Whereas, in my eyes, the Draco/Ron one is more fiery and driven. I've always loved Ron, and I really only began to like Harry around book 4 or so.

R/Hr has great chemistry. I actually wrote a R/Hr peice once, and I can't for the life of me find it now. :-( It was a gift for an old beta.

Wow. The Remus/Severus one is awesome.

*g* Thank you!

My favorite would have to be the harry/ron one. Its odd, I was never a fan of that pairing before. Your a great writer to have changed my mind on them.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you, I'm actually not that much a fan of the pairing either.

[identity profile] lady-infinity.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 10:21 am (UTC)(link)
Really? You write it so well.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
Like I said, it was written for [livejournal.com profile] lennaofmidearth, who loves the pairing. I doubt I'd be able to write a full length fic featuring it. But ficlets and drabbles focus more on the structure and style,so it doesn't matter what the pairing is.

[identity profile] lady-infinity.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
oh I see. Makes sense. what is the difference between a ficlet and a drabble? I'm only just now starting to hear those terms and I'm a little lost.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
A true drabble is exactly 100 words long. No more, no less. Sometimes people will fudge it up to 200, I tend not to. Technically speaking, a ficlet is something between 100-500 words. Anything longer is an actual fic. Ficlets are generally more idea/pairing driven than plot driven.

[identity profile] lady-infinity.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
oh. ok. Thanks. It makes sense now.

[identity profile] mchoneygoose.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Mm, all delicious! My fave of course is the RL/SS. ;-)

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 09:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed them.

[identity profile] missa-k.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
Yay Snupin! Yay Luverus! You know, not too many people write Luverus very well and even in that short little drabble you made my fangirly heart skip a beat ^_^ Adonis...yeeesss

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-02 09:02 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I really enjoy the Lucius/Severus pairing, I just have trouble writing Lucius.

[identity profile] missa-k.livejournal.com 2004-07-03 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe we should team up ^_^ I'm really good at writing Lucius but awful at Severus. For some reason I'm good at channeling evil bastards but not people who have a little ambivilence. ^_^

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2004-07-03 12:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I've never corroborated with another author before! I can do Severus well (in my opinion) but Lucius's cold evilness just escapes me. :-)

[identity profile] missa-k.livejournal.com 2004-07-03 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there's always a first time for everything, I always say. I mean, I think it might be fun. I'm a huge fan of your stuff so I can't say my opinion of the situation would be entirely unbias ^_^

See and there's just something about Lucius that comes to me with hardly any effort at all. I mean, I'm not an evil person (at least I don't think I am) but something about him just flows easily with my creative talent. 'S weird. But Severus, the oh-so-guarded double agent, has something about him that seems allusive to me. I can never quite pin it down.

Funny how people track with different characters isn't it? ^_^
