Why I Don't Write a Bunch of Stuff
Firstly, GIP. Romantic, friendly, take it as you will.
I got a first person POV plot bunny today. I rarely get those. I generally find first person POV to be limiting and restricting for me. I know a lot of people like it and make it work very well, but I can't. But we're going to see how this goes, the fic's not due until August.
Rented Love Actually for tonight. I've been meaning to see it for ages, and now I finally will. So that'll be one more Alan Rickman movie to tick off of my list.
I've been on an icon making frenzy lately. I'm still getting the hang of my new brushes. And I keep downloading more, because it's like an addiction.
A lot of people have recently asked me why I don't write fan fiction in X fandom, since I'm clearly a fan. The answer is simple: if I really like a series/movie/book and don't write fan fiction for it, it's usually because I just don't think I can do it justice. It took me an amazingly long length of time to work up to writing my one little LotR peice. And I'm still nervous as all hell writing anyone who's not Sam.
I won't write Fruits Basket fan fiction because I've only seen the series and everyone I know has read the manga, and would probably be severely disappointed with whatever drivel I spit out. (And it would be Yuki/Kyo drivel, because I love those dynamics. Or Akito/Yuki, because again, I love those dynamics. And Yuki, if you couldn't tell.) I don't write FMA fan fiction because I haven't seen all of the series. I don't write WoT fan fiction because, despite the fact that Jordan has run all characterization into the ground, I respect what the characters were originally and can't do them justice. And I don't feel there's room for much fan fiction in that series. I don't write Farscape fan fiction because thoe characters are so singular and so unique that I wouldn't be able to capture them properly. I don't write Due South fan fiction because....
You know, I don't actually have an answer for that. I don't know why I don't write Due South fan fiction. Huh.
