Troy and Business

Long, busy day.

Managed to see Troy, though. I enjoyed it, quite a bit more than I thought I would. Obviously creative liscence was taken, but it didn't bother me that much. And I was very pleased with the armor/weaponry and battle scenes. Bronze swords made me happy. As did turtles. There was actually only one military aspect that made me go 'hrm....no', but it wasn't a huge deal.

Just taking a quick moment to update. Drabbles will be forthcoming, today's just turned out to be busier than I thought it would be.

This is also a GIP.

The only other thing I have to say is: cousin?

*Snickers* Of course he's his cousin! Why else would two bronze-age Greek men hang out together constantly and be totally devoted to each other? Oh, wait....

Proof that, no matter what, Hollywood is still made up of homophobic bastards.

Glad to hear you liked the movie, though!

And in a movie that's all about love, you think they could have left that bit in. Blargh.

Sadly, The Iliad really has very little to do with love. It's mostly about rage and the search for undying glory.

The whole thing with Helen really has always struck me, in the original, as pretty incidental, honestly. The issue is that she was a precious possession, not that she was a person and certainly nothing to do with love. No matter what Hollywood wants us to believe, that wasn't the issue.

It's Hollywood. To hear Paris and Helen go on, you'd think love was the only thing in the world of any importance. They really turned it into this huge epic romance. They even threw in extra romance, to make it more dramatic!

The undying glory got some mention, though.
