This Hasn't Happened Since I Was 19....

So, apparently the cashiers and baggers at Fry's have taken to referring to me as 'Princess', as they don't actually know my name and apparently the way I dress. Okay, I can get that. I do pretty much wear nothing but long flowy skirts with embroidery and fantasy-style shirts and lots of sparkly jewelery. And I'm pretty friendly with a number of the employees at this Fry's - there's one woman, Kathy, that I always chat with and visit with while my stuff's getting bagged - and we're in there the same time on the same day every week. Kathy's the one who mentioned it, when she was commenting on my outfit. Which is one of my awesome traditional Indian ones, in pink and blue and silver. She said something like 'wow, you look like a real princess today!' and that's how it came up.

I gave her my actual name, but she decided that Princess Faye is a very cute name, and that's what she was going to call me. (I think she thinks I'm a lot younger than I am.)

This amuses me. I get it a lot when I dress in lolita, which makes sense, but now I'm getting it just normally. Which hasn't happened since I was a teenager. (Back then I was constantly getting compared to blond Disney Princesses, mostly Sleeping Beauty.)

One of these days, I'll be dorky and bold enough to say 'actually, I'm a queen'.

Oooooh, traditional Indian dresses. *__* *Wants to see pics if you've got 'em*

Heh... people often think I'm younger than I really am in RL, too. =/ It's supposed to be taken as a compliment (especially the older you get), but in my case, it sort of comes off as people thinking I'm immature for my age, which isn't good because I have a hard enough time getting anyone to take me seriously. =P

Yes! I got two sets of hand made, raw silk shalwar kamee - the long tunic tops with the loose pants. And one came with a sari! I would have bought like all five sets they had, but only two fit me. I shall have pics soon! :D

Yeah, on one hand I do think it's awesome that I'm a breath away from 30 and still get people thinking I'm 16, but on the other hand... I'm a breath away from 30, not 16. I am an adult woman, and I get sick of people younger than me calling me 'sweetie' and 'honey' and 'young lady'.

Ooo, I would love to see some pictures of you dressed in these princess-y outfits! I've been into wearing shiny stuff myself ^_^
