Thank you to everybody for the awesome birthday wishes! :D
Camping was wonderful! It was relatively low key, as this was more a romantic getaway than anything else, but we got one damn good hike in and a few smaller ones. Mostly we just hung around the campsite, talking and being silly and enjoying our very comfortable tent.
And spontaneously LARPing.
No, really. Freeform, spontaneous LARPing. (Live Action Role Play, for those who may not have heard the term before.)
I used to LARP a lot. And honestly, what I did (and we do) isn't even really LARPing, it's just that sounds so much better then 'playing pretend'. No system, no rules, just whatever we feel like.
We ended up doing this from afternoon Saturday until...well, we don't really know when we finally passed out but it was probably between midnight and three. Man, I haven't done that in years. When we first started, I didn't even think about it. All of a sudden, Danni's calling me by a character name and the crazy loud family across the way with a dozen kids and hardly any parental supervision were...you know, I don't think we even decided what they were. Just some sort of unknown threat and there was an epic battle outside and we were hiding in the tent.
By the time we fell asleep...well, we'd broken like three worlds and plunged everyone into chaos. Good times, good times. And she realized that the way to get me back into this without feeling self conscious or awkward was to just start with no warning or preamble.
We got in mid-afternoon yesterday, and I kind of crashed. I wrote a fuckton in bed, and then had pizza and watched Zombieland with
nijawial. Good movie! I was honestly impressed with it. I see what people mean about the gore in the beginning, but where this was a very dark comedy, I didn't mind very much or consider it entirely unnecessary. It was a pretty good set up to get us introduced to the main character, honestly, and set up exactly what the world is like after the zombie apocalypse.
I randomly feel like I seriously need to write some HBC fic today. I've been neglecting Valyn terribly, and at this point he's nothing but a shiny ball of angry jealousy. Silly Valyn, you haven't been replaced. You'll never be replaced! I just keep adding to my ever-growing stable of pretty, blond, young noble heir-types with emotional problems, daddy issues and an inability to deal with women normally.
...that is such an insanely specific type. O.o

LARPing is so damn fun. :D And is done way more than people are willing to admit.

It seriously is. Hahaha, that makes me feel a lot better!

Also dklfgjdklfgn Valyn. GOD I HAVE MISSED HBC! I was just thinking about that the other day too, hahaha. HE IS STILL LOVED! <3<3<3

I KNOW! We actually were talking about him over the weekend! One of my current characters is...basically Valyn with less balls, and the opposite emotion problem. He can't not show what he's feeling, no matter how hard he tries. I went over similarities once and was disturbed. Same problems with feeling useless, treated the same by their fathers, same equivalent station, same problem of being compassionate and kind in a political society that really isn't, same issues with women, same storyline where he's thrust into the wilderness with crazy people and no idea how to handle himself or exist outside of his father's house. Even their house colors are the same.
And then, RANDOMLY, Danni and I were working out backstory for a ridiculously minor character, and she basically came up with a situation that is so similar to Valyn and Shadow that it's not even funny. (Personal body servant since they were both young teenagers, only friend/one who understands, undercurrents of Epic True Love, etc etc.) Without ever reading the book, so I had to tell her all about Valyn.
He gets to join in the LARPing fun. :D
But that's why he's been feeling very jealous, and is in need of some attention.

And Shana says go have hot sweaty sex with Shadow, you'll feel better. ;)

Hahahaha, that is always a good way to cheer Valyn up!

And she agrees. And says she'll try not to turn into a shiny ball of angry jealousy to take his place. ;)

Valyn says she can come, too. He's very depressed and needs lots of cheering up.

Shana says Ooooh, threesome? She's all in on that!
no subject
Valyn says yes, that sounds like just what he needs. Preferably a few rounds.

Apropos of Zombieland, have you read World War Z? It's seriously...it's terrible. Not in the Stephanie-Meyer-God-who-published-this-shit sort of terrible, but a sweet-Jesus-oh-the-humanity-I-cried-a-little sort of way. Terribly awesome.
write some HBC fic
Oh God, please do. This day moves closer and closer the epitome of suck with every passing minute, and the mere hope that you might maybe possibly be writing HBC fic soothes my agony.

I have not! I'll have to look into it!
Well, I'm definitely in the mindset, but I am rather uninspired. INSPIRE ME SO I MAY EASE YOUR PAIN! )

Hm. I am currently in the midst of a follow-up to the birthday fic in which Zed and Valyn are actually not at odds and have come to an "understanding" (if you know what I mean), and conversely am also writing a post-Elvenbane weird Shana/Shadow/Keman threesome-ish thing (and an angsty companion piece to that that's just Shadow/Keman being friends). So there's all my brain spillage.
