Busy Sunday

The kitchen is clean!

And not just...tidied up clean. Clean clean. [livejournal.com profile] nijawial and I busted our butts cleaning out the cabinets and fridge, organizing, doing dishes, wiping counters, the whole shebang.

I also finally got laundry started. One load already in the dryer, one in the washer. I'm taking a small break now before I move on to either the dining area or the bathroom. One way or another, we're getting the house clean.

I always feel good when I'm cleaning. It's just nice to be up and about, and not stuck in bed exhausted and miserable.

And now for something completely different...

Book Recs!

As I'm getting myself to the library more often, I need book recommendations! And I'm not picky, I'll read nearly anything. Horror, fantasy, true crime, humor, memoirs, whatever. Anything that you've read and you enjoyed and think I'd enjoy.

I heartily recommend the Sergei Lukyanenko Watch series, starting with Night Watch. They're a fantastic real world fantasy series with Vampires and magic users.

Also George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire Series. I've just read the first 5 books and am in love!

Is A Dance With Dragons actually available? Everything I've heard points to it being out in September 09...

[identity profile] animeshon.livejournal.com 2009-02-22 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope Dance with Dragons isn't out yet. Sorry I read Book 3 as two books so I keep stuffing up and calling it 5 :(

Ah, okay! You had me kind of worried... I have a lot of customers coming in looking for it, and I was hoping I hadn't been lying when I told them it wasn't out yet!

I'm sorry. My bad!

I've actually read the first Song of Ice and Fire book! And...uh...part of the second, then it had to go back to the library. :D Amazing books.

They totally are aren't they. I was hooked by about half way through the first book, but sadly now I must wait for the next one to come out :(

I know I've already said this, but you need to read the Night Angel trilogy. I'm trying to convince Nija to take a copy of it home with her after she gets her associate ID number... :P

I love Lynn Flewelling (except the fourth book in the Nightrunner series--I waited 7 years for that and it wasn't the most magical thing I've ever read :() and Tanya Huff's Blood and Smoke series, I don't know if you've read either writer. Actually I liked the Smoke series a little more than the Blood series (Tooooooooooony!) but I guess they didn't sell well enough so it's staying a trilogy :'(

Buuuut I can't really talk, the book I've been stealing away seconds to read is Lasso the Moon which is. You know. A Western romance novel. >>.>> I keep meaning to read something respectable for fun, it just never turns out like that.

Wicked and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister. Definitely interesting fantasy, by Gregory McGuire.

I've actually read both of those. :D I've read most of McGuire's stuff. I have to agree that it's very interesting stuff.

Let the Right One In. (I will never pimp this book out too much) Vampire fantasy set in 80s Sweden. I loved it and the film too :D

Also seconding the Watch series, great read!
