I'm Just A Simple Guy, I Live From Day to Day....

Thanks for everyone who commented on my last post. I am feeling a bit better on the RP front now, and just waiting for everything settle and to get back in the groove.

My back has been bothering me like hell lately, and it's really starting to get to me. To the point where after I woke up, I had to go right back to bed and lay down a while. Nowhere near as bad as the other week, where I was in so much pain I was throwing up and couldn't see, but I'm worried it's going to come to that again.

Still working on the house, not much new there. I finished 'Lisey's Story', which was a beautiful novel. Despite being written in 2006, it harkens back to classic Stephen King. And is another example against the argument 'Stephen King can't write women'. I really think it's one of his best works, and urge King fans to give it a try.

I'm now reading 'Memoirs of a Geisha', which [livejournal.com profile] summoneddestiny gave me, and enjoying it very much. I have a stack of books to get through, and it's absolutely wonderful. I've missed being able to read. I've got the first Trinity Blood novel, Tsubasa Chronicles, a bunch of Sci-Fi novels, and the rest of my library haul.

Not much else is new here in Silent Hill land. I'll be catching up on RP posts later today!

Ooh Memoir of a Geisha was one of the first books I could not put down in a long time. I read it in one sitting. It was a weird day/night/morning. I was high on sugar and couldn't sleep. I have no idea if the book was amazing or I was just going nuts. But I'm still fond of it.

Let me know when you finished so I can ask my spazzy question XD

I found 'Memoirs' a rather interesting read, even if my response to it was a bit different than what everyone else seems to think. *chuckles* I do have to say that I'm glad you have the chance to just sit down and read, though; simple pleasures, mm? :)

I'm enjoying it, though I'd really like to read the book written by the woman who's notes it's based on. It really is wonderful - I've taken to sitting on the porch in the mornings with tea and a book and just enjoying the day start.

Pardon me while I stew in jealousy over here. *laughs* I dunno, I tend to read on in the evenings; less stressed than doing it while preparing for work or what-not.

Though I don't know... while I'd like to see the notes, I think having it as fiction probably makes for a better story, y'know? Getting to take artistic license sometimes makes things flow better. ...well, so I say, but without said book I wouldn't know.

Ah, yeah, that makes sense.

For me, I think it would be fine, since from what I understand, so much of the book is fiction, and most of what's in the notes used is mainly just cultural stuff on Geisha life in Gion.

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I just acquired an advance reading copy from work. I'm not sure what it's about, but the cover's pretty, and it's nowhere near as crappy as that Book of Ishmael thing was.   :P If you're interested, you're more than welcome to borrow it, and there's a couple more that I can grab from work, too.

I am very much enjoying it! I only have a couple chapters left! And oooh, nice! hahaha, nothing can be as bad as Biblical alien abduction! *snerks* Yay books! I think I'm starting Clash of Kings tonight - I've been meaning to read it for years!

I liked the book much better than the movie.

Nothing can trump Biblical alien abduction.

this (http://www.amazon.com/Way-Shadows-Night-Angel-Trilogy/dp/0316033677/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1222819528&sr=8-1) came out today. I picked it up because A) it's an Orbit book and B) ooh, pretty cover... damn good book so far, and I actually bought it so I could bring it home with me. XD

I've heard the movie takes a lot of creative license.

Ooooh, nice! You'll have to tell me if it continues being good all the way through!
