I Don't Even Remember What Day It Is....

I looked in the mirror this morning and realized I look a great deal like a mad woman. My hair is falling out again, and it resists any attempt to condition it or coax it into some state of smoothness. Coupled with the tangled curls that refuse to untangle and the meandering swaths of white and gray....

I may as well just don all black and a pointy hat and be done with it.

I'm at least making progress on my skin, with better eating and more water consumption. I've fallen behind on my calorie intake again, however, so I really have to get on myself more to keep up with that. But I get caught up with packing and cleaning and going through things that I tend to skip two of my meals. And making them up in the evening/at night doesn't work, because I've been having those gastrointestinal issues at night again.

My mother's...lack of common sense or linear thought continues today. While informing me of some very important developments in the lawsuit, she suddenly pauses to inform me she bought Pringles, and what sort of Pringles she bought. She also just keeps talking to me, and making me stop as I'm hauling a large box of crap, without even apologizing for holding me up. This LJ entry? Was started at 9 AM. It's almost 11:30 now.

*headdesk*

I was able to actually get a decent night's sleep last night. I had to practically sensory deprive myself, but I got a good six hours.

I'm still completely unfocused and ridiculously....well, at the moment, failing to find the word I want. But considering yesterday evening I ate and didn't even register I was eating, or remember I'd eaten afterwards until I noticed a wrapper, I think that gives a good indication of my mental capabilities at the moment.

And since I really don't want to end up with an LJ entry that too more than three hours to type up - especially because generally this would take me ten, fifteen minutes tops - I'm going to finish going through the stuff under the sink.

Any suggestions on what the hell to do about my hair are greatly welcomed. Otherwise...I'm chopping it all off.

A lot of my hair falls out this time of year... and how exactly are you drying your hair? Mine is wavy so when it was long, getting it smooth took some effort.

Looks like the house’s current residents will be out soon and we will get to see what it looks like inside on September 1st along with the apartment.

You seem to need to take it easy for a couple days. Give yourself a break from cleaning and packing.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I put some cream in it, brush it, then wrap it. Which used to always work like a charm, but now...I don't know. It's also brittle and coarse now. I don't know. I knew it'd get long and I'd get frustrated with it and just chop it all off eventually.

Oh good, that'll help...a lot. With figuring out space and whatnot.

I can't. I was reminded that I have my lumbar session looming, and I'll be unable to do any packing or cleaning or anything for two weeks following, so I have to get this done now. (Plus there's the court stuff, and everything else.)

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
hm... When was the last time the ends were trimmed? Do you use conditioner? and are you brushing it while the hair is still wet?

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh...hahahaha. Sometime last year. I do use conditioner - Dove Extra-Strength - and shampoo for damaged hair. I use a wide toothed soft comb on it when it's wet, and then a curl brush when it's dry. It's just kind of gone to hell due to so long without being able to take proper care of it that I honestly think at this point, there's nothing for it but cutting it and starting over.

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok. I was told that one of the worst things you can do to your hair is brush or comb it out while it is wet. It damages it quite a lot. I would also get it trimmed to get rid of any split ends too.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
It depends on what you use to brush it. Wide toothed combs, doing it while holding the hair and starting from the ends won't result in tearing or breaking.

I know how it got like this - lack of proper nutrition, lack of proper sleep, lack of trimming, etc - but I was sort of hoping maybe I could bring it back. The more I think about it, though, the more I know I can't, since it's damaged so far up that a trim wouldn't do much.

Sadly, all cosplays I'd planned for January sort of hinged on me having long hair.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Nico, um...the one I decided do to because according to you everyone hates her and that made me like her, and Lust - since I nixed Rose Red, as won't be able to get a wig in time. I was going to use my own hair for all of them, since they all have long black hair, and it'd be cheaper and easier than wigs.

Maybe a couple oil treatments would do some good?

(In some good news, my workroom is almost all packed.)

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Kikyo? I don't get why everyone hates her so much.

Maybe?

(Awesome. I barely have anything packed, and I am not packing until my headache clears up some. I am tempted to go play Okami and work on my app while I wait for the medicine I took to kick in.)

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that one. Me neither, but then again...well, I'm not really an accurate judge. I'd guess 'she's a female love interest' is enough.

Of course, it's like 12:30 and I still haven't eaten yet, so I highly doubt if I can't keep with my nutrition plan that I'll manage to take time to give myself an oil treatment.

(Ack, yes, packing + headache = not good. I ended up with a massive one yesterday, but it was a tension one. Go for it! I've got to start going through garage tubs.)

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I've always liked her. I was very sad to find that there were so few people that did too. She isn't THAT bad of a character.

Even if it is something small EAT.

Headache is from oversleeping. Had horrible cramping last night. Nearly threw up numerous times because of it. and I had a dream about Pyramid head coming to my door... or at least that is what I thought it was. Creepy dream was creepy. Even worse was I was awake for half of it. The lights in my house kept doing weird things.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen terribly much of her, but I feel really bad for her. Plus, you know, she's hot.

I WILL! I just pulled out a bunch of my tubs and my back staged a small revolt, so I'm breaking for food now.

Oh geeze. I know how that goes. :/ I've got some tea for that, actually. I'll give you some when you come over, for next time. Don't be afraid, Pyramid Head is our friend! I swear I had dreams about the Ass Monsters. Gah. I hate when that happens.

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I like her more than Kagome to be honest.

Yes! Food!

I would have killed for a heating pad then.If I had tea, I probably wouldn't have gotten up at that point to get it. I couldn't even get up to use the bathroom which was my main problem in my dream. and none of the lights wouldn't turn on... or the ones that I did manage to turn on wouldn't stay on.

But I am not entirely sure if it was Phead...It could have just as easily been the butcher.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't have a problem with Kagome, but...yeah, I want to shake her a lot.

I have cucumber slices. I've been screwed lately since I haven't been doing my own shopping, and my folks got me the ramen cups rather than ramen packets.

I HAS A HEATING PAD! It'll be coming with me, and you're welcome to it whenever.

Gah, the Butcher! He is not our friend!

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I get tired of her screaming "Inuyasha!" all of the time. Yes, I understand that you are in love with the dude and worry about him when he is getting his ass kicked or nearly kicked, but really, her screaming should be breaking his concentration.

Ugh! Yeah. My mom has been doing the shopping for me and hasn't even bothered with asking me for a list. So far all of the things she bought me this weekend taste terrible.

YAY!

No he isn't! *Hides behind Phead for protection.*

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh man, yes. And you'd think she'd learn that...um...he comes out of things generally okay!

It sucks. I need to foist a list on them next time, or haul myself up and go. I haven't restocked my udon and soba noodles in months. I just ate a cucumber for lunch. Last night's mid-evening meal was an apple and cheese.

PHEAD WILL PROTECT US!

[identity profile] nijawial.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
She never learns as far as the anime is concerned... I don't think she does in the manga either. It makes me just want to slap her.

I tried eating some of the pizza she bought me and it was terrible. Luckily we won't live too far from a grocery store and soon we will be able to get our own food. \o/ we are moving soon! YAY!

Now I want to see Phead battle the butcher...

[identity profile] lovelies.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I used organic shampoo for a while, which made my hair coarse and it started falling off. Anyway, I read somewhere that it would be good to change shampoo brands every couple of months, because apparently your hair gets used to the proteins or whatnots after a while.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I was using generic cheap stuff for a while, and I just switched over to Herbal Essence for damaged hair. Maybe it'll help in a bit - I'll have to keep that in mind, I don't generally change shampoo all that often.

[identity profile] lovelies.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Me neither, I'm pretty OCD set in my ways. It helped me to find two shampoos that I like so I can switch between them periodically. Anyway, I don't know if it's (http://hairloss.instah.com/hair-care/does-switching-shampoos-help-your-hair/) an urban myth or anything, but on the other hand, it'd seem weird for shampoo companies to broadcast "Please to be using our competitor's product now and again for maximum results!"

Also, leave-in conditioner is magic, I've found.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's just easier for me to stick with one. I have two now, I may try switching between them and seeing what that does. I've got my hair down below my shoulders now, and I'm really hoping I can keep growing it out.

Oooh, I've never tried those.

[identity profile] ex-talia-sp.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
My hair falls out as well...but I have found a really good shampoo and conditioner. Its that stuff I always have when we travel. Suave Humectant. It works really well against humidity and weather also.

[identity profile] theladyfeylene.livejournal.com 2008-08-13 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Mine's doing that always fun 'come out in giant hamster sized chunks' it does every once in a while when I fail at my dietary plan. I'll look into that shampoo, though! I'm willing to try anything.
