Lush Review - Big Blue
I have discovered Lush bath products. I've poked around the site a few times, made aware of Lush by my involvement in BPAL circles. The products were unique. The reviews were phenomenal. The price was affordable. Finally, I placed an order.
I stared small, and ordered a shampoo bar and a couple of bath bombs. Today, I used my first bath bomb, Big Blue...
The reviews spoke of conjuring up images of sunny beaches, tropical paradises, martinis and scantily clad native beach boys. Many users felt as though they'd been swept away to a tropical paradise. They claimed they imagined they were bathing in Jamaican waters, in exotic and beautiful vistas usually available to only the rich and famous. I was intrigued. And with sea salt and seaweed included in the bomb (not to mention the promise of bright blue water), I had to try it. I miss my seaweed baths!
I opened the bag and was hit with an unmistakable ocean scent. But it wasn't the scent of a troical beach. It was, too me, the scent of a cold New England beach. And underneath it, below the cold ocean smells, was something else. Grapefruit. Immediately, I knew what I had to do.
I turned on the tap. I went to my BPAL box. There was an imp I needed to sniff. Yes, there it was. Grapefruit. I cackled with glee. I grabbed a book and returned to the tub, finding the bath full. I got in. I dropped in the bath bomb.
It fizzed! It shot around the tub, spitting out blue colouring and seaweed and salt at a mad cap pace. And oh, but the scent took me back! Lavender, sea, a hint of sinister grapefruit... it was aquatic and murky and carried me away to cyclopean cities of eye watering angles that defy geography. The water was a beautiful deep blue. The salt exfoliated my skin. The seaweed moisturized me. I sank into the bath, my mind's eye filled with dark and amphibious shapes swimming in the moonlight.
I sank into my blissful bath and stayed in for an hour and a half, making it through 'Shadow Over Innsmouth', 'Call of Cthuluh' and 'Dagon'. And then I got out, and felt like I had never felt after a bath before. I felt revitalized. Rejuvenated. My skin tingled with cleanliness and vitamens. And now, nearly eight hours later, my skin is still soft and moist and silky. I haven't had to put on any lotion, when normally I need apply it at least once an hour.
Also, when I put R'lyeh on afterwards, it no longer smells like pure grapefruit. It smells like it's supposed to smell, aquatic and sinister. I had a wonderfully Lovecraftian experience in the bath, and will definitely purchase more Big Blue Bath Bombs.
In short, I am in love with Lush. I can't wait to try my other bombs, and the free sample of Fig and Leaves soap!
