Title: Biased Opinion
Pairing: Ginny/Hermione
Rating: R
Summary: Hermione never had boyfriends. Ginny had lots.
Word count: 400
Hermione had never had a boyfriend during school. She had stuck close to her books, ignoring the boys that showed any interest. She said she needed to concentrate on her schoolwork. Ginny had paid close attention, watching as each boy went away disappointed, and Hermione went on with her books. And as seventh year came, there were a lot of boys. Smart, bookish and slim was attractive, it seemed. Ginny had to agree. Hermione was earthy and soft and natural. And unattainable, it seemed. That only made her more desirable to the boys. They always wanted what they couldn’t have.
Ginny had lots of boyfriends in school. She never stayed with one long. She never really liked them. They were fun to hang out with, and they were nice as friends, but she got bored when they kissed her and cupped her small breasts over her blouse. Certainly it was what you did, but she didn’t see the big deal. Instead of fire and lightening, she just felt sweaty and silly. And she really, really didn’t want to have anything to do with what was in boy’s trousers. Maybe Hermione had the right idea. Or, Ginny thought, the same general idea.
Hermione was better than any boy, anyway. Hermione was too good for them. They wouldn’t really understand her, or really appreciate her. Ginny would. Ginny lay awake nights, thinking of the brown haired bookworm one year her elder. Come Christmas Ginny would pull her aside and talk to her. And they would slip off together, and Ginny imagined she’d like to feel Hermione’s hands on her breasts, or between her legs. And she was very eager to have everything to do with what was under Hermione’s skirt. The thought of it made Ginny squirm, and she looked forward to Christmas.
When Hermione showed up to Christmas with a handsome young research wizard on her arm, Ginny was crushed. Who was this dark haired, sad eyed young man who was holding Hermione’s hand and pulling out chairs for her? He was introduced as Philip Gadsworth, and Ginny vaguely remembered him from three years ahead of her class. He was a Ravenclaw. He had soft hands and a neat little mustache. He was smart, polite and charming, and doted on Hermione, who looked happy. Philip researched magical texts, they had met through work. Molly and Arthur loved him.
Ginny hated him.
