She's a little more complex than the other two, but I thought to what OOC qualities always piss me off in fan fiction. Mainly, the idea that there's nothing to her but sex.

Maria's a complicated character. But there's definitely more to her than sex. Actually, I prefer her more than Mary, and it's not because Mary is a prude (allegedly). There's just...something about Maria that makes me like her, even while knowing what she is. It almost annoyed me that there wasn't a happy ending for her and James. I would think that would be the perfect ending for James. He screwed up with Mary, but now he would get a second chance with someone else. Regardless of the 'wrongness' of it.

With the other endings, things are still less than ideal for the protagonist. In the Leave ending. James is still alone. In the In Water ending, nobody wins. With the Rebirth ending, James starts screwing around with the Red God's preachings or whatever is controlling the environment of Silent Hill, producing who knows what effect. The Maria ending is really the only one that really gives James a second chance to prove whether he can change or not. The In Water ending is the most realistic, given the circumstances James endures, and the most tragic. It's certainly my favorite of the endings. But if it weren't for James' delusions about what he did, and that cough, the Maria ending wouldn't be so bad for him. He's getting exactly what he wants - another person to be with.
